General Painting Process
  • Harmful effects on health

  • Toolbox talks regarding the harmful effects arising from the painting works will be conducted
  • Correct PPE (in accordance with recommended practices of specific paintwork material, MSDS) will be used.

1.2 Preparation of the paint
  • Manual Handling

  • Toolbox talk shall be given on manual handling.
  • Manual handling rules to be followed.

  • All electrical equipment and cables will be checked prior to commencement of the work
  • The cables will be kept in the dry condition

Carrying out the Painting Work

  • Spark and ignition potential of painting materials in the warehouse
  • Fire

  • Toolbox talk will be provided on the handling and working with painting materials
  • Painting materials will be stored In hermetically closable containers
  • The storage area will be ventilated, and opening of paint containers will be conducted by means of special accessories
  • Fire extinguisher will be in place.

  • The paint hoses and the equipment will be checked for failures prior to use
  • Whip checks will be mounted on the hoses
  • Proper PPE including goggles will be used

  • MSDS will be supplied and considered with taking appropriate precautions
  • If the work is carried out in a closed area, adequate ventilation to be provided.

  • Proper PPE including goggles shall be used.
  • Eye wash station to be available in the workplace.
  • MSDS will be available in the clinic.

  • The workplace will be kept free of direct heat sources
  • No smoking will be allowed and appropriate warning signs will be in place
  • Appropriate fire extinguishers will be provided
  • All the painting materials will be placed back to storage area after work

  • The cleaning of the equipment will be conducted in an enclosed area and a drip tray will be used
